The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Meteorological Centre Agartala, has forecast a combination of light to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms with lightning, and hot and humid weather conditions across Tripura during the next seven days. Residents have been advised to remain cautious, particularly during afternoon and evening hours when thunderstorm activity is expected to occur.
According to the Mid-Day Weather Bulletin issued at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely at one or two places across the state on June 3 and June 4. At the same time, hot and humid conditions are expected to prevail in West Tripura, Khowai, Sepahijala, Gomati and South Tripura districts. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are also very likely at isolated places throughout the state during this period.
From June 5 onwards, rainfall activity is expected to intensify. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely at a few places on June 5 and at many places across Tripura between June 6 and June 10. Thunderstorm and lightning activity may continue at isolated locations, particularly between June 5 and June 8.
The weather office has also indicated that maximum temperatures are likely to remain above normal by 3°C to 5°C over the next two to three days, while minimum temperatures are expected to remain near normal. The combination of elevated temperatures and high humidity may increase discomfort levels and pose health risks, especially to children, elderly persons and people with existing medical conditions.
