CM says ‘Pushpavanta’palace to represent Tripura’s past royal grandeur

The chief minister Dr Manik Saha said that the royal ‘Pushpavanta’ palace, former official abode of the state’s governor, has been handed over to a leading private hotelier company for converting it into a high category star hotel . Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of a programme of Tripura Cricket Association (TCA), held in the Rabindra Shata Varshiki Bhawan, Dr Saha said that an ultra-modern hotel with all the latest facilities will be set up in the place occupied by the ‘Pushpavanta’ palace, built by former Tripura king Maharaja Birendra Kishore Mankya (1909-1923) . But even after the construction of the hotel the new building will retain all the features of the former palace and represent Tipura’s royal grandeur and past glory.
Replying to queries from the media persons Dr Saha also said that the union minister for home affairs Amit Shah will arrive in the state on June 4 and stay till the next day . “During his visit the home minister will visit the bordering areas of the state before deciding on better border control in a more scientific manner so that infiltration of Bangladeshi illegals and Rohingiyas can be fully prevented” said the chief minister.
Meanwhile, the chief minister today attended a programme of the Tripura Cricket Association (TCA) as chief guest in the Rabindra Shata Varshiki Bhawan. It was also attended by the president of the TCA and retired chief engineer Tapan Lodh. In the programme the chief minister gave away 100 cricket kits among players and encouraged them to perform as best as possible in the game . These 100 cricket kits had been sponsored by the State Bank of India (SBI) and , in addition, 8 more kits were distributed by the TCA authority through the hand of the chief minister. The programme came off successfully amidst enthusiasm in the audience and players.
