Agartala is poised to witness a significant milestone in its healthcare infrastructure with the formal inauguration of the city's first Civil Hospital likely to take place on June 17. The inauguration is expected to be attended by Union Health Minister JP Nadda and Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, marking the launch of a major healthcare facility aimed at improving medical services for residents of the state capital.

According to a senior official of the State Health Department, the newly constructed Agartala Civil Hospital, a modern 50-bed healthcare facility located adjacent to Jackson Gate in Agartala, has been established by the state government to reduce the growing patient load on the city's premier healthcare institutions, including GBP Hospital and IGM Hospital. The hospital has been designed to provide accessible and quality healthcare services to the people of Agartala and surrounding areas.

Initially, the hospital's operations will be carried out through the deputation of doctors, nurses, and other healthcare personnel from the State Health Department. In the long run, the responsibility for managing and operating the hospital is expected to be handed over to the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC), making it one of the key civic healthcare institutions under the municipal administration.

The Agartala Civil Hospital has been equipped with modern and patient-friendly infrastructure and will offer extended healthcare services from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM every day. The facility will house multiple specialist outpatient departments under one roof, enabling patients to access a wide range of medical consultations without visiting different hospitals. In addition, the hospital includes a dedicated minor operation theatre for conducting small surgical procedures and is equipped with contemporary healthcare amenities to ensure efficient patient care.

Health officials believe that the launch of the Civil Hospital will considerably strengthen Agartala's healthcare network, improve accessibility to medical services, and provide much-needed relief to the overburdened GBP and IGM Hospitals. The new institution is expected to play a crucial role in enhancing urban healthcare delivery and meeting the growing medical needs of the capital city's population.
