Tipra Motha Party MLA Ranjit Debbarma has raised serious questions regarding the distribution of 500 electric auto-rickshaws procured under a scheme of the Tribal Welfare Department. The legislator alleged that the allocation process lacked transparency and that elected representatives were not adequately informed about the beneficiary selection.

According to Debbarma, the Tribal Welfare Department had procured 500 EV auto-rickshaws for distribution among eligible beneficiaries. However, he claimed that Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma did not issue any notification detailing how many vehicles were allotted to each Assembly constituency, including the six constituencies under Khowai district.

The MLA further alleged that during a meeting chaired by the minister regarding the distribution of 200 auto-rickshaws, legislators were assigned quotas of seven, nine, or thirteen vehicles without any clear explanation of the criteria used. He questioned the basis on which these allocations were made and whether the process was conducted fairly.

Debbarma also expressed concern that many areas under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council were reportedly left without adequate information regarding the scheme. He suggested that the lack of communication has created confusion among prospective beneficiaries and local communities.

Raising the issue publicly, the MLA questioned whether the auto-rickshaws were being distributed in accordance with the objectives of the Tribal Welfare Department and whether deserving beneficiaries were receiving the benefits. He called for greater transparency in the implementation of the scheme and urged the department to disclose detailed allocation records.

The allegations have sparked discussions among local residents and political observers, with many seeking clarification on the selection process and constituency-wise distribution of the EV auto-rickshaws.

As of now, no official response has been issued by the Tribal Welfare Department or Minister Bikash Debbarma regarding the allegations made by the Tipra Motha legislator.
