Abhishek Debroy to Take Charge as New BJP Tripura State President on May 29, Grand Felicitation Ceremony Scheduled at RS Bhavan

A major organizational transition in the Tripura unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to take place tomorrow May 29, as newly appointed State President Abhishek Debroy will officially assume charge from outgoing State President Rajib Bhattacharjee at the BJP state headquarters in Agartala.

According to party sources, the formal handover ceremony will be held at 11 AM at the BJP Pradesh Karyalaya. Senior party leaders and workers are expected to remain present during the programme marking the change in leadership of the ruling party in Tripura.

Later in the day, at 2 PM, a grand felicitation programme in honour of the newly appointed State President will be organized at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala. The event is likely to witness the participation of ministers, MLAs, party leaders, office bearers and hundreds of BJP workers from across the state.

Ahead of formally taking charge, Abhishek Debroy received a warm welcome at the BJP state office today from Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, outgoing State President Rajib Bhattacharjee and other senior leaders of the party. The leaders greeted him with flower bouquets and congratulated him on his new responsibility.

Speaking to media persons after his appointment, Abhishek Debroy expressed surprise and gratitude over the party’s decision. He stated that he had never even dreamt of becoming the State President of the BJP and revealed that until this morning, he himself was unaware that he would be appointed to the post.

Soon after the announcement of his name as the new BJP Tripura President, party leaders and workers accorded him a grand reception at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport in Agartala. Among those present to welcome him were Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, Sushanta Chowdhury, Minister Kishore Barman, Chairman of Tripura Industrial Development Corporation Nabadal Banik and a large number of enthusiastic BJP supporters and workers.

The appointment of Abhishek Debroy is being seen as an important organizational development for the BJP in Tripura ahead of future political challenges and party expansion programmes in the state.
