After being confronted by local people the youth said that his name is Billal Shaikh (25), a resident of Chapai police station area under Rajshahi district of Bangladesh , and he carried out his illegal work by staying in Beterbon area of Agartala near Ram Nagar. He said that he had come to Tebaria area to cross over to Bangladesh by paying a human trafficker Rs 8 thousand but did not get the man. Despite being queried he did not disclose the identity and address of the trafficker and his two other accomplices. However, an amount of Rs 10 thousand was recovered from his possession.
Sources said that the local people of Tebaria had contacted the BSF’s border outpost (BOP) for action in the matter and to arrest him but the BSF jawans refused to do anything in the matter . Later the people handed over Billal Shaikh to the airport police station where he is now in custody.
