Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Wednesday launched a virtual version of the “Mukhyamantri Samipesu” public grievance redressal programme, beginning with Dhalai district, to enable villagers from remote areas to directly raise issues with the administration.
The initiative was launched during the 66th edition of the programme, which has so far largely catered to people from Agartala and nearby areas, officials said.
Speaking to reporters, Saha said the government decided to conduct the programme district-wise through virtual mode to make it accessible to people living outside the state capital.
“Today we started with Dhalai district. District Magistrate, Chief Medical Officer, doctors and officials of different departments were present there. A total of 35 people participated virtually and two attended physically,” the chief minister said.
According to Saha, participants raised issues related to health, education, higher education, financial assistance and land matters.
He said officials concerned were instructed to follow up on the grievances and ensure necessary assistance.
“People from remote areas are now getting the opportunity to directly share their problems. Officials have been asked to help them and resolve the matters properly,” he said.
The chief minister said the initiative would gradually be extended to other districts and sub-divisions of the state.
Officials present during the programme included Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, along with secretaries, directors and senior officers from various departments.
Sources said many of the participants in the virtual interaction belonged to tribal communities from Dhalai district.
