DIT Holds High-Level Consultation on Draft AVGC-XR Policy to Promote Creative Economy, Innovation and Youth Employment

In a major step towards strengthening Tripura’s digital and creative economy, the Directorate of Information Technology (DIT), Government of Tripura, organised a high-level stakeholder consultation programme on the draft Tripura AVGC-XR Policy in Agartala on Tuesday. The consultation brought together senior government officials, industry experts, academicians, entrepreneurs and stakeholders from the Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics and Extended Reality (AVGC-XR) sector.
The initiative is part of the State Government’s broader vision to create a future-ready policy framework aimed at encouraging creativity, innovation, entrepreneurship, skill development and digital employment opportunities for the youth of Tripura.
The programme was attended by Shri Kiran Gitte, IAS, Secretary, Information Technology, Government of Tripura, along with senior officials, Directors from various departments and other dignitaries. The event began with a detailed presentation by Shri Jeya Ragul Geshan B, IFS, Director of Information Technology, Government of Tripura, who highlighted the State’s vision of developing a vibrant AVGC-XR ecosystem.
During the presentation, the draft policy’s objectives, implementation strategy and focus areas were discussed extensively. Special emphasis was placed on talent development, entrepreneurship promotion, industry participation, content creation and employment generation within the State.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Kiran Gitte said that Tripura has made notable progress in the information technology sector in recent years. He underlined the State’s achievements in digital infrastructure, technology adoption, innovation-driven governance and capacity building initiatives.
The consultation also featured technical and sectoral sessions by experts including Mr. Austin Davis from the National Institute of Design (NID), Gandhinagar, and Mr. Manvendra Shukul from IICT. Professor Saikat Roy from the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Kolkata, also shared insights on the rapidly evolving media and entertainment landscape and the emerging opportunities in the AVGC-XR sector.
A special session focused on the entrepreneurial journeys of successful AVGC sector founders. Mr. Anurag Khurana, Founder of New Gen Gaming, and Mr. Vishal Parekh, Founder of Cyber Power, interacted with participants and shared practical experiences related to enterprise development, innovation, market opportunities and pathways for local youth to engage with the fast-growing creative technology sector.
An open forum discussion was also organised where participants deliberated on the key thrust areas of the proposed policy. Discussions centred around skill development, startup promotion, cultural content creation, employment generation and youth-led innovation. Stakeholders also shared suggestions to ensure the policy remains aligned with the needs of industry, academia, creators and students.
The Government of Tripura aims to position the State as an emerging AVGC-XR destination in the Northeast by leveraging its unique strengths and aligning with new-age industry opportunities. The proposed policy is expected to contribute significantly to inclusive economic growth under the broader vision of the orange economy.
