The revered Mata Tripureswari Temple at Matabari in Udaipur, one of Tripura’s most sacred pilgrimage destinations, witnessed an extraordinary display of devotion and global spiritual connection as authorities opened the temple’s donation boxes after nearly three months on Monday.A total of 16 donation chests and 'Pranami' boxes were opened inside the temple premises in the presence of district officials, temple authorities, and security personnel. The counting process began in the morning and continued throughout the day under tight security arrangements despite intermittent rainfall causing minor delays. The counting operation was supervised by officials of the Gomati district administration. A special 16-member committee formed by the District Magistrate’s office monitored the exercise to ensure transparency and smooth completion of the process. Deputy Collector Chandra Shekhar Chatterjee confirmed to the local media that the counting work was expected to continue till late evening.
The most emotional moment of the day emerged when CRPF constable Buddhadeb Das donated his entire first month’s salary amounting to Rs 33,310 to the temple. His heartfelt gesture deeply moved devotees, temple staff, and officials present during the counting process. Many described the act as a rare example of faith and dedication toward Mata Tripureswari.
Adding another remarkable dimension to the proceedings was the discovery of foreign currency notes and coins inside the donation boxes. Officials found contributions in US Dollars, Saudi and Kuwaiti Dinars, Nepalese Rupees, and Bangladeshi Taka, highlighting the growing international recognition and spiritual attraction of the Matabari temple among devotees and tourists from different countries.Temple authorities stated that the presence of foreign currency reflects the shrine’s expanding global resonance and increasing influx of pilgrims from outside India. The temple, one of the 51 Shakti Peethas in Hindu belief, continues to draw thousands of devotees every year for worship, rituals, and religious tourism.According to officials, the collected donations will be utilized for renovation and maintenance of the temple complex, improvement of facilities for pilgrims, festival arrangements, and preservation of the spiritual and cultural heritage associated with the historic shrine. The entire counting exercise was conducted amid elaborate security arrangements with personnel monitoring the movement of devotees and officials throughout the day.Mata Tripureswari Temple, popularly known as Matabari, remains one of the most important religious landmarks of Tripura and continues to strengthen its reputation as a centre of faith, devotion, and cultural heritage with growing national and international prominence.
