The Education Department has postponed the proposed “Bhartiya Bhasha Summer Camp” scheduled to be held in government and government-aided schools across Tripura during the summer vacation.

The camp, planned under the “Learn One More Bhartiya Bhasha” initiative from May 19 to May 25, was deferred following the state government’s austerity measures aimed at fuel conservation and expenditure reduction.

In a memorandum issued on Sunday, the Directorate of Secondary Education stated that the revised schedule of the camp would be announced later.

Earlier, district education officers had been directed to organise the seven-day programme and submit activity reports along with photographs for monitoring purposes.

The postponement follows the General Administration Department’s May 13 directive mandating only 50 per cent attendance of Group C and Group D employees in government offices, with the remaining staff working from home on a roster basis. The order will remain in force until further instructions.
