The Tripura government has allotted 25 acres of land at Bikramnagar mouja under Sadar subdivision for construction of a permanent campus of the Tripura Film and Television Institute (TFTI), officials said on Monday.
The institute, launched in 2022 in collaboration with the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, is currently operating from Nazrul Kalakshetra in Agartala.
TFTI was established to develop skills among youths in the fields of film, television and media using modern technology. Since its inception, the institute has been offering certificate courses in various film-related disciplines.
Officials said postgraduate certificate courses in Screen Acting and Film and Video Editing were introduced for the first time in the 2025-26 academic session.
The state government is also bearing 80 per cent of the course fees for enrolled students.
According to officials, the permanent campus is expected to strengthen film and media education infrastructure in the state and help promote Tripura’s cultural heritage and indigenous traditions through national and international media platforms.
