Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has expressed satisfaction over completing four continuous years in the Chief Minister’s chair, stating that he remains pleased with the functioning and performance of almost all government departments under his administration.
According to the Chief Minister, the health sector has recorded the most notable improvement during his tenure, with special emphasis on healthcare infrastructure, medical services, and expansion of facilities across the state.
Dr. Saha, who first assumed office as Chief Minister on May 15, 2022, completed four continuous years in the top post yesterday. Despite the political significance of the occasion, there was no official or private celebration organized either by the government or the ruling BJP.
Political observers noted that the Chief Minister maintained a low-profile approach on the occasion, consistent with his generally restrained public style.
Speaking media professionals informally about the government’s performance, Dr. Saha reportedly conveyed satisfaction over the progress made in multiple sectors including health, education, infrastructure, connectivity, and digital administration. However, he particularly highlighted achievements in the healthcare sector, an area closely linked to his professional background as a dental surgeon.
Under his leadership, the state government has focused on improving hospital infrastructure, expanding medical services in rural areas, recruiting healthcare personnel, and strengthening emergency medical facilities.
Dr. Saha’s tenure has also been politically significant as very few non-Left Chief Ministers in Tripura’s history have managed to remain in office continuously for such a period without interruption.
The BJP government, which first came to power in Tripura in 2018 ending the Left Front’s 25-year rule, underwent a leadership transition in 2022 when Dr. Manik Saha replaced Biplab Kumar Deb as Chief Minister. Later, in the 2023 Assembly elections, the BJP retained power for a second consecutive term under Dr. Saha’s leadership.
Known for his clean image and soft-spoken personality, Dr. Saha has often emphasized transparent governance, administrative discipline, and development-oriented politics.
Although his government has faced challenges including political tensions and concerns over drug abuse, supporters believe his calm administrative style and focus on development have helped maintain stability in the state.
With four years now completed in office, political attention is gradually shifting toward whether Dr. Manik Saha will become one of the few non-Left Chief Ministers in Tripura to successfully complete a full uninterrupted term.
