In a significant development , the additional district and session judge (court no-4) Gobinda Das rejected the anticipatory bail plea of absconding Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer Gaurav Rabindra Wagh. The fugitive IFS officer stands accused of bribe-taking and embezzlement of government fund after his courier carrying Rs 60 lakh in cash was arrested by police late last month from railway carriage.

The government railway police (GRP) recovered the unaccounted cash and registered a Case No 2026/GRP/025 on April 23 this year. Thereafter , various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act (PCA) and Bharatiya Nyaya Samihita (BNS)-2023 were invoked by police while registering the case. Subsequently , other sections of the PCA and BNS were also invoked by police against the absconding IFS officer during the process of investigation. The man who had been carrying the huge amount of cash had been arrested earlier.

While in absconding state the IFS officer Gaurav Rabindra Wagh got senior advocate and criminal law specialist Pijush Biswas to move a petition for anticipatory bail in the additional district and session court (No-4) headed by judge Gobinda Das . But after the hearing of the plea the additional district and session judge rejected the bail plea and asked the senior lawyer to ensure the surrender of his client either to police authority or in court.
