Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Friday announced that the Tripura government is actively considering enhancement of honorarium, advanced training opportunities, and overall welfare measures for the 7,866 ASHA workers currently serving across the state.
Addressing the State-Level ASHA Convention held at the Indoor Hall of the International Fair Ground in Hapania, the Chief Minister acknowledged the crucial role played by ASHA workers in strengthening grassroots healthcare services and ensuring that medical assistance reaches the doorsteps of ordinary people.
Dr. Saha stated that ASHA workers have been working with dedication and sincerity in multiple areas of public healthcare, including creating health awareness among citizens, safeguarding maternal and child health, supporting immunization programmes, and assisting in the successful implementation of various healthcare initiatives across the state.
Highlighting their contribution, the Chief Minister said the government is firmly committed to ensuring the rightful dignity, recognition, and welfare of ASHA workers. He informed that the government is seriously considering measures for increasing their honorarium, improving skill-based and modern healthcare training, and introducing broader welfare support for the frontline healthcare workforce.
The Chief Minister also expressed heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for the tireless service and humanitarian efforts of ASHA workers, describing them as one of the strongest pillars of Tripura’s public health system.
The convention witnessed the participation of healthcare officials, ASHA workers from different districts, and senior government representatives. The programme focused on strengthening healthcare delivery mechanisms at the grassroots level and recognizing the contributions of frontline health workers in improving healthcare accessibility across rural and remote regions of Tripura.
The announcement is expected to bring encouragement to thousands of ASHA workers who have long been playing a key role in implementing health programmes and extending healthcare services to villages, remote habitations, and tribal areas throughout the state.
