Tripura CM Dr. Manik Saha Flags Off 24 Mobile Medical Units to Strengthen Healthcare in Remote ADC Areas

In a major initiative aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery in the remote and hilly regions of Tripura, Chief Minister Manik Saha on Friday flagged off 24 Mobile Medical Units during the State-Level ASHA Convention held at the Indoor Hall in Hapania.

The newly launched mobile medical units, equipped with modern healthcare facilities and essential medical infrastructure, are expected to play a crucial role in providing accessible healthcare services to people living in geographically challenging and underserved regions of the state, particularly in areas under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (ADC).

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that the state government is committed to ensuring quality healthcare services reach every citizen, including those residing in the farthest corners of Tripura. He emphasized that the initiative reflects the government’s determination to strengthen grassroots healthcare delivery and improve medical access in rural and tribal belts.

Dr. Saha stated that a large section of the population, especially residents of ADC areas, would benefit significantly from these mobile medical units. The vehicles are designed to deliver primary healthcare services, routine medical check-ups, diagnostic support, maternal and child healthcare assistance, and emergency medical care directly to remote communities where permanent medical infrastructure remains limited.

The launch took place during the State-Level ASHA Convention, attended by ASHA workers, healthcare officials, and government representatives from different parts of the state. The Chief Minister appreciated the role of ASHA workers in strengthening public healthcare and acknowledged their contribution in reaching healthcare services to grassroots communities.

The initiative is expected to further boost Tripura’s rural healthcare network and reduce the gap in medical accessibility between urban and remote areas. The deployment of the mobile units is also likely to improve early disease detection, awareness campaigns, vaccination outreach, and preventive healthcare services in difficult-to-reach locations across the state.

The state government reiterated that healthcare accessibility remains one of its top priorities and affirmed its commitment to expanding modern and people-centric medical services throughout Tripura, including the remote hill districts and tribal habitations.
