Major IAS Reshuffle in Tripura: Tamal Majumdar Appointed Special Secretary, Megha Jain Named Unakoti DM

n a significant administrative reshuffle, the Government of Tripura on Thursday issued a notification transferring senior IAS officers and assigning them new responsibilities in key departments of the state administration.

According to a notification issued by the General Administration (Personnel & Training) Department, IAS officer Shri Tamal Majumdar, who was serving as the District Magistrate and Collector of Unakoti district at Kailashahar, has been transferred and posted as Special Secretary to the Government of Tripura at Agartala.

Upon assuming his new responsibilities, Tamal Majumdar will independently hold charge of the Home (Fire & Emergency Services) Department. In addition to this important responsibility, he has also been entrusted with multiple additional charges, including Director of Fire & Emergency Services, Director of Urban Development and Special Secretary, Urban Development Department.

The reshuffle indicates the government’s emphasis on strengthening coordination among the Urban Development and Fire & Emergency Services departments, especially at a time when urban infrastructure, disaster preparedness and civic administration are receiving increasing attention.

Meanwhile, IAS officer Ms. Megha Jain, who was serving as Director of Urban Development, Tripura, along with additional charge of Director of Fire & Emergency Services, has been transferred and posted as the new District Magistrate and Collector of Unakoti district at Kailashahar.

The transfer order was issued in the interest of public service and came into effect immediately until further orders.
