Allegations regarding an alleged illicit relationship between a teacher of Bhavan's Tripura Vidyamandir and a Class XI girl student have triggered widespread discussion in the state. Responding to the controversy, school principal Swapna Som today issued a clarification regarding the matter.

The principal stated that the teacher concerned, Chandrajit Das, had tendered his resignation on April 29 citing personal reasons. She said that after his departure from the institution, certain “whistle blowers” started spreading allegations linking him with a girl student without any proper evidence.

According to the principal, as soon as the matter came to the notice of the school authority, the institution immediately spoke to the parents of the student concerned while prioritizing the child’s safety and wellbeing. The parents reportedly informed the school authority that such an incident was not possible as they remained extremely vigilant and careful regarding their child’s movements and activities.

Swapna Som further said that representatives of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, the local Officer-in-Charge, and members of the Child Welfare Department also approached the school regarding the issue yesterday, and the institution narrated the same facts before them.

Reaffirming the institution’s commitment to student safety, the principal stated that Bhavan’s Tripura Vidyamandir maintains strict vigilance regarding the security and protection of every student. She added that the entire school campus and classrooms are under CCTV surveillance.

The school authority also thanked the Child Welfare Department for taking up the matter and assured full cooperation in any further investigation conducted by the authorities.

Meanwhile, the allegations have led to protests and public reactions demanding a fair inquiry into the issue.
