The Bharatiya Janata Party will begin a statewide training programme for mandal-level party workers in Tripura from Thursday, party leaders said.

The first session will be held at 8 Bardowali Mandal and will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Manik Saha and BJP Tripura Pradesh president and Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee.

Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters, BJP spokesperson Subrata Chakraborty said the initiative is being organised with the theme “Saksham Karyakarta, Sashakta Sangathan”.

He said similar training sessions would be conducted across the remaining mandals of the state between May 17 and May 27.

According to party leaders, each programme will continue for one-and-a-half days and participating workers will stay overnight at the training venue. Mobile phones and plastic items will not be allowed during the sessions.

The training will focus on organisational matters, central and state government welfare schemes and developmental activities at the local level, Chakraborty said.

The BJP has fixed a participation target of around 140 to 150 workers from each assembly segment for the programme.

Senior BJP leaders, including general secretary Bhagaban Das, media in-charge Sunit Sarkar, IT cell convenor Chandan Debnath and spokesperson Ashmita Banik, were present at the briefing.
