A new political debate has started in Tripura after Tripura Cabinet Minister Ratan Lal Nath warmly received newly elected TTAADC Chief Executive Member Runiel Debbarma at his office chamber at a time when Tipra Motha founder Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma has been repeatedly expressing dissatisfaction and criticism against Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha.
On Tuesday, Power and Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath invited Runiel Debbarma to his office chamber and accorded him a warm reception. The meeting immediately drew political attention because both leaders later publicized the courtesy meeting on their social media platforms, indicating the importance being attached to the interaction.
Sharing details of the meeting, Minister Ratan Lal Nath stated, “Warmly greeted and congratulated the newly elected Chief Executive Member of the TTAADC, Shri Runiel Debbarma, who paid a cordial visit to my office chamber. During the courtesy meeting, we had a meaningful and constructive interaction on matters related to development, public welfare, and the collective progress of the state.”
The minister’s remarks projected a message of cooperation between the state government and the ADC administration. However, the timing of the meeting has become politically significant because only a month ago, during the ADC election campaign, BJP leaders had sharply targeted Tipra Motha and accused its leadership of corruption. Now, the visible cordiality between BJP leaders and Tipra Motha representatives has triggered fresh political discussions across the state.
The political atmosphere became even more interesting after both Manik Saha and Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma were seen together on the same stage during the oath-taking ceremony of the Assam Chief Minister. Speaking to journalists there, Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma made sharp remarks aimed at Chief Minister Manik Saha.
“CM Manik Saha galat kya mujhse challenge karke,” Pradyot remarked before the media. He further alleged that even after what he described as a humiliating defeat in the ADC elections, the Chief Minister continued speaking against Tipra Motha.
The developments have once again highlighted the uneasy and complicated political relationship between the BJP leadership in Tripura and Tipra Motha. While one section of the BJP leadership appears to be maintaining cordial relations and administrative cooperation with the ADC leadership, public criticism from Tipra Motha founder Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma against Chief Minister Manik Saha continues to create political ripples in the state.
Political observers believe the latest developments may have a larger impact on future alliance equations and political strategies in Tripura as both BJP and Tipra Motha attempt to balance cooperation and confrontation simultaneously. Nath invited Runiel Debbarma to his office chamber and accorded him a warm reception. The meeting immediately drew political attention because both leaders later publicized the courtesy meeting on their social media platforms, indicating the importance being attached to the interaction.
