A major controversy has surfaced over the disbursement of long-pending dues of retired jute mill workers, after allegations emerged that false affidavits and fraudulent documents were allegedly submitted to claim the money illegally.

The issue came to light during the process initiated by the jute mill authorities to clear pending wages and allowances of retired employees in compliance with court directives. As part of the verification process, workers and their legal heirs were asked to submit bank account details and affidavits wherever multiple claimants were involved.

According to the allegations, a false affidavit was reportedly filed showing a no objection from the first wife of a retired worker regarding transfer of the pending dues to another claimant on the basis of relationship. However, later complaints alleged that the signature on the affidavit had been forged and the transaction attempt was fraudulent in nature.

Following the complaint, Jute Mill Managing Director BB Das, TCS, took the matter seriously and lodged an FIR at Amtali Police Station seeking a thorough investigation into the alleged fraudulent transaction, forgery, and submission of false affidavits and documents.

Sources said the FIR clearly mentioned that if the allegations are established during investigation, strict legal action would be initiated against all persons involved directly or indirectly in the alleged fraud. The jute mill authorities have also warned that any further attempt to manipulate documents or submit fake affidavits for claiming pending money would invite stringent action under the law.

The incident has created concern among genuine beneficiaries awaiting their long-pending dues, while authorities have intensified scrutiny of all submitted documents to ensure transparency and legality in the payment process.
