ICA department observes ‘Rabindra Jayanti’ through cultural programme

On a day when the chief minister Dr Manik Saha, agriculture and power minister Ratan Lal Nath and number of other ministers and MLAs were away in Calcutta to attend the maiden swearing in ceremony of West Bengal’s first BJP government, the department of Information and Cultural Affairs (ICA) today organized a heart-warming cultural programme in front of the Rabindra Shata Varshiki Bhawan to celebrate the birth anniversary of nobel-laureate poet Rabindra Nath Tagore .
The programme was attended by the minister for industry Santana Chakma as chief guest who saw the cultural programmes including songs and dances based on Tagore’s composition performed by teenaged artists including school students. A large number of children also took part in the impressive cultural programme organized by the department of ICA. The director of ICA Bimbisar Bhattacharjee was the mastermind behind the programme which drew appreciation from the audience . Both the minister Santana Chakma and director Bimbisar Bhattacharjee spoke on the importance of the day and the contribution of Tagore in the literary and cultural life of India .
Apart from this , a large number of schools , colleges and other educational institutions also organized cultural programmes on the occasion of ‘Rabindra Jayanti’. The heads of institutions and local dignitaries attended the programme and explained the importance of the day to the audience.
