Tripura CM Dr Manik Saha Directs Officials to Ensure Congestion Free Traffic System and Responsive Governance

Chief Minister Prof Dr Manik Saha on Monday stressed the need for a congestion free traffic system across Tripura and directed officials to remain vigilant and proactive in addressing public grievances and administrative challenges.
Chairing a high-level review meeting at the State Secretariat, the Chief Minister reviewed the progress of various public welfare projects and administrative activities undertaken for the benefit of the people. The meeting was organized under the Task Monitoring System (TMS) and attended by District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police from all eight districts through virtual mode.
Dr Saha asserted that the present government is a people’s government and therefore every department must remain active, alert, and accountable in solving public problems. He emphasized that government officials should maintain regular monitoring of their departments and ensure prompt delivery of public services.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister laid special emphasis on improving the traffic management system in Agartala city as well as in district headquarters. He instructed the concerned authorities to take immediate measures for smooth traffic movement and reduction of congestion in busy urban areas.
Dr Saha specifically directed officials to ensure strict monitoring of overloaded vehicles and maintain functional electronic traffic signals at all important points. He also instructed the Transport Department to expedite the construction and development of new motor stands in the state to streamline vehicular movement.
Highlighting the importance of law and order, the Chief Minister reiterated the government’s firm stand against drugs and directed police and administrative authorities to intensify vigilance to prevent narcotics from entering the state through railway routes or other channels.
He further instructed the administration to maintain strict supervision over areas where allegations of illegal trade in narcotics or night petrol sales have surfaced. Alongside this, he stressed the need for transparent and corruption-free functioning of nursing homes, rehabilitation centres, and sub-registrar offices across the state.
The Chief Minister also reviewed the condition of the health and education sectors, particularly in Dhalai district. He directed health officials to take precautionary measures in view of seasonal diseases such as diarrhea and dengue ahead of the monsoon season.
The meeting also discussed issues related to hospital management and the shortage of manpower in various hospitals. Dr Saha emphasized maintaining quality standards in Mid-Day Meal schemes in schools and ensuring uninterrupted educational activities.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to infrastructure development, the Chief Minister directed departments to complete ongoing road and development projects within stipulated timelines while maintaining quality standards.
Officials from multiple departments attended the review meeting, where administrative preparedness, public welfare initiatives, traffic management, law and order, healthcare, education, and anti-drug measures were discussed in detail.
