Tragic : bride in waiting collapses dead on wedding platform, mourning all around

In a heart-rending tragedy a new would be bride suffered a massive cardiac arrest at the time of exchanging garlands with the groom on the decorated marriage platform and was declared ‘dead on arrival’ in Agartala’s GBP hospital. The tragic incident happened on May 3 in Ram Nagar village under the Bisramganj police station .

Giving details sources from Ram Nagar said that Khapang Debbarma (26), son of Buddha Debbarma of Ram Nagar village, had long been in love relationship with Ayesha Debbarma (22) of Chelikhola village under Bishalgarh police station. Their marriage had been fixed to come off on May 3 with consent of both the families . According to Tripura’s Hindu tribal custom the bride Ayesha was brought to Khapang’s house for taking part in performing marriage rituals . There was an ambience of joyous celebration in the house and all the invitees were feasting.

The marriage rituals based on Hindu tribal custom had been performed appropriately and the last thing to do was exchanging flowery gardens by the bridegroom and bride. But when this commenced the bride Ayesha suddenly collapsed on the wedding platform and lost sense . She was immediately taken to Bisramganj hospital but the doctor there said that Ayesha had suffered a massive cardiac arrest and referred her to GBP hospital Agartala . In the GBP hospital the doctor in the trauma section examined Ayesha but declared her ‘dead on arrival’-that is, she had breathed her last before being brought to the hospital . The stunned relatives of Ayesha felt distraught because she was a healthy girl without any disease but they had bring Ayesha’s mortal remains home for cremation . The tragic death of Ayesha on such a happy day cast a shadow of grief and mourning in the Ram Nagar village as well as in her native village , Chelikhola.
