Turmoil in Dharma Nagar, road blockade in protest against induced suicide of BJP councilor

The allegedly induced suicide of BJP councilor of Dharma Nagar Rahul Kishore Roy has triggered a serious reaction among party workers and supporters. Reacting to the death of Rahul Kishore Roy large number of BJP supporters including a number of councillors and chairman of Dharma Nagar municipality, started demonstrations on the main roads of the town and also launched a road blockade demanding arrest of the persons responsible for the death of Rahul Kishore Roy. Even as the entire town and its traffic system came to a grinding halt , a large posse of police headed by SP (north ) Abinash Rai reached the spot and persuaded the leaders and workers of BJP to withdraw the blockade.
Meanwhile the mystery behind the death of BJP councilor Rahul Kishore Roy has taken a new turn with the filing of a FIR by his wife Ananya Bhattacharya (Roy) with the Dharma Nagar police station . Ananya who is five months pregnant was eye-witness to the entire sequence of events leading to the mysterious suicide of her husband. She said in her complaint with the officer in chage of Dharma Nagar police station that after the counting of votes for the Dharma Nagar by-poll was over her husband Rahul Kishore Roy, president of BJP ‘Juba Morcha’and elected councilor from ward no -5 of Dharma Nagar municipality , had returned home in Nazrul Sarani area . Around 3-30 PM a group of people, namely, Kankan Chowdhury, Hirakjyoti Nath, Manoj Purkayastha, Mohit Purkayastha, Niladri Bhattacharjee, Abhijit Das Suraj Deb , Prabal Deb and several others had stormed their house.
The miscreants had allegedly abused the family members in vile language and asked them to take out her husband Rahul Kishore Roy. The miscreants also beat up the complainant Ananya Bhattacharya and other members of the family and severely injured her in-laws demanding that councilor Rahul Kishore Roy be dragged out and given over to them. The attack was repeated at 1-00 AM last night and threatened the family members that unless they handed over Rahul Kishore Roy they would kill him . But in the wee hours of today-that is, around 4-30-5-00 AM the complainant and her in-laws found her husband Rahul Kishore Roy hanging dead in the bathroom of the house.
Ananya said in her complaint that her husband had committed suicide because of the humiliation inflicted on his family member and for fear of his life . She has demanded arrest of the culprits named in the complaint and justice for the forced suicide of her husband Rahul Kishore Roy. Police sources said that the complaint has been registered and the matter will be thoroughly investigated to bring the culprits to justice.
