Runiel Debbarma new CEM of TTAADC, Bhabaranjan Reang new chairman

Members of the District Council (MDCs) of the TIPRA Motha Party in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) on Monday agreed on names for key leadership positions for the upcoming term during a meeting held in Agartala, party sources said.

The meeting, held at Rajbari in Ujjayanta Palace, was chaired virtually by party founder Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma.

According to party sources, the MDCs unanimously proposed Bhabha Ranjan Reang as Chairman, Runeil Debbarma as Chief Executive Member (CEM), and C K Jamatia as Executive Member (EM) for the new term.

Tripura minister Brishaketu Debbarma and MLAs Ranjit Debbarma and Biswajit Kalai were present at the meeting. They conveyed their wishes to the proposed leadership and expressed confidence over continuity of administrative functioning in the TTAADC areas, sources said.

The formal election for the posts of Chairman and Chief Executive Member is scheduled to be held on May 5 at the TTAADC Council Bhavan in Khumulwng, officials said. The oath-taking ceremony will take place on May 6 at Nuai Auditorium Hall in Khumulwng.

The TTAADC is an autonomous administrative body constituted under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution, overseeing governance and development activities in tribal areas of Tripura.

There was no immediate response from opposition parties on the development.
