BJP Registers Landslide Victory in Dharmanagar By-Election 2026, Jahar Chakraborti Wins by Massive Margin

In a decisive political outcome, the Dharmanagar Assembly by-election in Tripura’s North District concluded with a resounding victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). BJP candidate Jahar Chakraborti secured a landslide win, reinforcing the party’s stronghold in the region.

Final Results (Round 4/4, Counting Completed)

Jahar Chakraborti (BJP)- 24,291 votes (Won, +18,290)

Amitabha Datta (CPI-M)- 6,001 votes

Chayan Bhattacharya (INC)- 5,936 votes

Bibash Ranjan Das (Amra Bangalee)- 274 votes

Sanjoy Chaudhury (SUCI-C)- 226 votes,

Brajalal Debnath (Independent)- 126 votes

NOTA- 444 votes.

As per the official declaration of the results, BJP’s Jahar Chakraborti dominated the contest with nearly 68% vote share, indicating a one-sided mandate.

The margin of victory- 18,290 votes, is one of the largest in recent by-election history in Tripura.

CPI(M)’s Amitabha Datta finished second, while Congress candidate Chayan Bhattacharya remained a close third.

NOTA (None of the Above) received 444 votes, surpassing several candidates.

Reacting to the result, Chief Minister Manik Saha expressed heartfelt gratitude to the people of Dharmanagar for their overwhelming support. He stated that such a strong mandate increases the government’s responsibility and reaffirmed the commitment to ensure development, peace, and progress in the region.
