Chief Minister Manik Saha on Saturday directed officials to expedite ongoing urban development works, maintain quality standards and ensure sustained monitoring after completion, stating that timely delivery of public projects is essential for effective citizen services.

Chairing a high-level review at the state’s urban development “war room” at his official residence, the Chief Minister assessed progress of projects undertaken by the Tripura Urban Development Department and urban local bodies. He called for faster execution of works under the Tripura Urban Planning and Development Authority, including the Junction Gate project in Agartala, and emphasised completion of the Lighthouse housing project near the Akhaura border.

Saha also asked officials to accelerate construction of the proposed city hospital to strengthen public healthcare access. He directed installation of CCTV cameras across urban areas to improve security and modernisation, along with safety measures such as railings on footpaths.

Reviewing civic infrastructure, the Chief Minister stressed riverfront development along the Gomati in Udaipur, regular upkeep of pump houses and creation of new facilities where required. He noted that construction of pink toilets in 20 urban centres is nearing completion.

He further instructed the Agartala Municipal Corporation to ensure proper disposal and recycling of idols after festivals, and to strengthen door-to-door garbage collection and solid waste management.

Progress of key schemes, including AMRUT 2.0, Smart City Mission and externally aided projects, was also reviewed. Senior officials, including Chief Secretary J K Sinha, attended the meeting.
