Heavy Rain, Thunderstorm Alert Across Tripura for Next Seven Days

The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Meteorological Centre Agartala, has issued a seven-day weather forecast and warning for all districts of Tripura, predicting widespread rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and heavy rainfall across the state over the coming week.

According to the evening weather bulletin issued at 7:30 PM on May 1, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely to occur at most places in Tripura during the first three days, while many places are expected to receive rainfall during the remaining period.

The IMD has warned that heavy rainfall ranging between 7 cm and 11 cm is very likely at one or two places across Tripura during May 1 to May 4. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph are also expected in several districts.

On Day 4, heavy rainfall is specifically expected over North Tripura, Unakoti, and Dhalai districts. The weather department has placed most districts under a 'Watch' category, advising people to remain alert and prepared for adverse weather conditions.

The bulletin further stated that maximum temperatures across the state are likely to remain 4-6 degrees Celsius below normal during the next two to three days before gradually increasing. Minimum temperatures are also expected to stay 2-4 degrees below normal initially.
