Police in Sonamura recover abandoned packets of dry ‘Ganja’

The police in Sonamura have intensified anti-drug and anti-‘Ganja’(cannabis) operations . Even this morning a mobile team of Sonamura police station recovered altogether eleven packets of dry ‘Ganja’that had been left abandoned beside a road in Balerdhepa area. Sources from Sonamura police station said that a police team on mobile duty had been passing through Balerdhepa area on official vehicle. At that time members of the team came across these packets lying abandoned near a ‘Kuchha’drain beside the road. The got down from the vehicle and recovered the eleven packets and by opening them found dry ‘;Ganja’ inside . Sources said that the contents of the packets may be priced at Rs 2 lakhs in the market, adding that smugglers trying to send the consignment across the border into Bangladesh might have abandoned them beside the road for fear of police or BSF detection and arrest.
