In view of the deteriorating weather conditions and flood-like situation across Tripura, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha has convened an emergency high-level review meeting today at 4:30 PM at the War Room of TIFT, Agartala.

The Chief Minister will attend the meeting virtually along with senior officials and allied departments to assess the impact of continuous heavy rainfall, storms, and the emerging flood situation in various parts of the state. The meeting is expected to focus on immediate response measures, damage assessment, and preparedness strategies for the coming days.

Speaking on the situation yesterday, the Chief Minister stated that intense storms and heavy rainfall have caused significant damage to houses and electric poles across multiple districts. He confirmed that District Magistrates have already initiated necessary measures on the ground to mitigate the crisis.

“The state government is working on a war footing to tackle the disaster. We are fully committed to stand beside the affected people and provide all necessary assistance,” he said.

According to inputs from the Meteorological Department, adverse weather conditions are likely to persist for the next five days, raising concerns about further disruptions and damage. In light of this forecast, the government may take a crucial decision during today’s meeting regarding the closure of schools and colleges across the state as a precautionary measure.

Officials are also expected to review emergency services, power restoration efforts, relief distribution, and coordination among various agencies to ensure swift and effective response.

The situation remains under close monitoring, and further decisions are likely to be announced following the outcome of the emergency meeting.
