In a bizarre incident, the father and paternal relatives of a married daughter who had got into wedlock on her own with her beloved have been continuously attacking and harassing the husband and in-laws of his daughter. Already attempts of police complaint against the attackers with the Bagma and R.K.Police station in Udaipur subdivision have been foiled while a written complaint has been filed at long last with the Udaipur womens police station by the married daughter but no action has been taken so far and pressure is mounting on the married daughter and her husband to withdraw the complaint.
This bizarre incident has been reported from the Bagma area under Udaipur subdivision of Gomati district. Sources from Bagma said that on February 7 this year Milu De (19), daughter of Pushpa Ranjan De of Koroimura area under Bagma police outpost , had fled home and registered her marriage with Akash Goswami of Pashchim Barabhaiya . Since both the boy and girl who had been in love relationship over the past five years were of marriageable age as per law there was no problem .But the girl’s father Pushpa Ranjan De and his close relatives could not accept the marriage and have been harassing the couple and their relatives ever since.
But what happened on April 24 crossed all limits as on that evening the girl’s farther Pushpa Ranjan De and his relatives , reportedly connected with the ruling party, stormed the in-laws’ house of Milu De and tried to beat up all the inmates including Akash , Milu and the former’s in-laws , all of whom saved their lives by fleeing into the nearby jungle . But the entire house and its furnitures , TV sets, Fridge and other items were completely vandalized. The terrified inmates of the house tried to file a complaint against this with the Bagma police outpost but were forcibly prevented from doing so by the local mafia elements and relatives of Pushpa Ranjan De. Their second attempt to file a complaint with the R.K.Pur police station in Udaipur also failed as the officers of the police station refused to register the complaint, citing ground of jurisdiction . But more interesting thing happened in the Udaipur police station as the officer in charge and her junior drove away Milu De and her husband after flatly refusing to register the complaint. Sources said that Milu De filed a written complaint with the womens police station on April 25 but this has not yet been registered as FIR and no action has been taken .The terrorized family is now trying to meet the SP (Gomati) Kiran Kumar K. but their attempt has not met with success so far.
