Work shop on census for the first phase held in Prajna Bhawan, officers explain methodology of the process

The union home ministry in association with the state governments has started preparing for the Census-27 programme which for the first time in post-independence history of the country will be conducted in digital mode. As part of the preparation a seminar was held today in the Hall No-1 of the government run Prajna Bhawan auditorium . This important programme was attended by the director of census operation (DCO) Tripura, Ratan Biswas and deputy register general of the union home ministry Subhas Dasgupta and other officials.

The discussion in th seminar revolved round the methodology to be followed in the first phase of the census operation and the relevant issues were explained to DMs, ADMs and SDMs of all the districts and subdivisions. It was brought to the notice of all senior and junior officials present in the seminar that altogether 11 thousand employees will be involved in the census operation and the entire operation will be conducted in digital method.

The first phase of the census-2027 will be carried out from July 17 to July 31 and in the later phase the census enumeration will be carried out from August 1 to August 30-that is, for forty five days altogether. The experts who spoke in the seminar explained how house-to-house census will have to be carried out with special digital census tools . All the details pertaining to the mega census operation were also brought on table and explained to the attendees including the funds to be allocated and submission of utilization certificates and other details . Official sources said that such seminara may be organized in future also in the run-up to the census operation as this time the exercise is likely to be bigger than usual as on account of Covid pandemic the scheduled Census-21 could not be carried out.
