Serious allegations of corruption in recruitment within the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (ADC) have intensified in recent months, but demands for intervention and investigation appear to have yielded no results. Despite repeated appeals to the Governor of Tripura, no inquiry has been initiated, raising questions about administrative accountability.

Multiple incidents of alleged job irregularitie, ranging from appointments without interviews to claims of money for jobs have come to light over the past five years in the TTAADC administration. Opposition parties, including the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the Indian National Congress, have consistently demanded a probe. Even leaders linked to the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party reportedly approached the Governor seeking action against alleged irregularities.

However, critics argue that these appeals have gone unanswered. There is growing concern that neither the ADC administration nor the state administration is showing willingness to investigate the allegations. Observers note that incidents of corruption and financial irregularities are reportedly increasing, yet there remains a striking silence from authorities.

At the center of the controversy are recent reports of around 200 appointments made ahead of ADC elections without proper procedures, including the absence of interviews. Allegations suggest that several beneficiaries have close links with leaders of the Tipra Motha Party, further fuelling accusations of favoritism and misuse of power.

Political leaders like Jitendra Chaudhury, Ashish Saha and Rebati Tripura of BJP have strongly criticized the lack of action, stating that repeated exposure of such irregularities has not led to any meaningful investigation. Demands for cancellation of these appointments and a transparent recruitment process have so far not been addressed.

Adding to the controversy, concerns have also been raised over the broader financial condition of the ADC. Reports suggest delays in salaries, unpaid pensions, and stalled development work—yet large-scale hiring has allegedly taken place, deepening suspicion of financial mismanagement.

As allegations of corruption and financial scams continue to mount, the absence of any formal probe or administrative response has become a key political issue. Calls for accountability are growing louder, but for now, both the ADC administration and the state machinery remain under criticism for their continued silence.
