A serious case of alleged cross-border smuggling involving goods purchased through Flipkart has surfaced in Bishalgarh, raising concerns over misuse of e-commerce supply chains and possible local collusion.According to multiple complaints, certain local officials and individuals associated with Flipkart operations in the Bishalgarh area are accused of procuring products such as soaps and shampoos at low prices through the platform and illegally trafficking them to Bangladesh, where they are reportedly sold at significantly higher rates. The issue came to light a few days ago when delivery personnel temporarily shut down the Jangalya Flipkart office, alleging illegal activities including unauthorized movement of goods across the border. The matter was reportedly brought to the attention of office manager Bimal Lodh, area manager Bapi Chakraborty, and Dipankar Debnath.Subsequent verification efforts revealed that police and customs officials initiated an investigation into suspected smuggling operations at both the Jangalya and Rastarmatha Flipkart offices. Preliminary findings suggest that, for several years, multiple fake accounts were allegedly created to place bulk orders of products through the Flipkart app, which were then diverted for illegal export to Bangladesh.

Investigators also uncovered that a goods vehicle was allegedly purchased without proper documentation for around Rs.20,000. The vehicle reportedly used a mismatched number plate that did not correspond to its engine or chassis details, enabling the accused to transport goods while evading detection. The alleged smuggling route involved moving products from the Jangalya office to a facility at Rastarmatha, then via Boxanagar to Sonamura, a known border subdivision. Sources claim that individuals identified as Anwar and Saddam from Sonamura played a role in selling these goods across the border at inflated prices.

In a significant development, a vehicle loaded with goods was intercepted by Bishalgarh police on Wednesday night. However, reports suggest that later the same night, several accused individuals, along with others from Sonamura, arrived at the police station with high-end vehicles bearing out-of-state number plates and managed to secure the release of the seized goods.
