In a strong and urgent message to the people of Tripura, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha has warned of a deliberate conspiracy to incite communal unrest in the state. After spending the entire day visiting violence-affected areas in Sepahijala and South Tripura districts, the Chief Minister chaired a high-level meeting late into the night with top police and civil administration officials to assess the situation and ensure strict law enforcement.
According to official sources and party inputs, tension has escalated in parts of Khowai, Teliamura, Takarjala, Boxanagar, Sabroom subdivision, particularly in the 28 Shilachari–Manu Bankul ADC constituency, following the BJP’s electoral victory. Allegations have surfaced that elements linked to Tipra Motha are attempting to destabilize normal life by creating disturbances in marketplaces and densely populated areas, thereby disrupting business and daily activities.
Reports further claim that multiple BJP party offices have been targeted, with incidents of arson and vandalism heightening concerns over post-election violence. In response, the Chief Minister, accompanied by Chief Secretary and DGP, visited the affected locations, inspected damaged party offices, and interacted with local leaders and affected workers.
During his visit to South Tripura, Dr Saha also met residents impacted by the violence, assuring them that the government is fully committed to restoring peace, maintaining law and order, and ensuring the safety of every citizen. He emphasized that necessary measures are already being taken to prevent further escalation.
In Sepahijala district, the Chief Minister visited the homes of victims including Anil Kumar Debbarma, Suresh Debbarma, Khaken Debbarma, and Jawaharlal Debbarma, who were reportedly affected by post-election violence. He expressed solidarity with the families and assured them of full government support during this difficult period.
Speaking to the media, Dr Saha stated that attacks were not limited to BJP workers alone but extended to civilians who supported the party. He asserted that the government will firmly establish the rule of law and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
"The attempt to incite riots in the name of politics will not be tolerated under any circumstances", the Chief Minister said, urging citizens to remain vigilant and not fall prey to provocation.
