Chief Minister Manik Saha on Wednesday directed security agencies and the civil administration to take “firm and immediate” measures to restore law and order across Tripura following reports of post-poll violence in several areas after the declaration of the TTAADC election results.

The directions were issued after the Chief Minister chaired a series of late-night high-level meetings at his official residence, where he reviewed the prevailing situation and assessed the response of the administration.

According to officials, incidents of violence have been reported from different parts of the state in the aftermath of the polls, with allegations that miscreants, reportedly linked to the Tipra Motha Party, were involved in vandalism and assaults. Several houses were damaged and a number of people sustained injuries, sources said.

In the first meeting, Dr Saha held discussions with senior leaders of the state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party, including ministers, MLAs and tribal representatives. He sought ground-level feedback and reviewed relief measures being extended to those affected.

This was followed by a separate meetings with top bureaucrats and security officials, including Chief Secretary J K Sinha, Home Secretary Abhishek Singh and Director General of Police Anurag, along with senior officers from the Border Security Force, Tripura State Rifles and Assam Rifles.

During the review, the Chief Minister stressed that ensuring peace and public safety must remain the administration’s top priority. He instructed authorities to act swiftly against those involved in the violence and to prevent any further deterioration of the situation.
