Man critically injured in bear attack in Tripura forest

A 60-year-old man was critically injured after being attacked by a wild bear in a forested area of Tripura’s Dhalai district, officials said on Tuesday.
The victim, identified as Khagendra Reang, a shifting cultivator, had reportedly ventured deep into the forest near Baghaichari under Ganganagar police station to collect produce from his jhum land when the incident occurred.
According to local sources, the man was unaware of the presence of the animal and was suddenly attacked. He sustained severe injuries to his face in the assault.
Hearing his cries, villagers rushed to the spot and rescued him before shifting him to a nearby health facility. Considering the seriousness of his condition, he was later referred to a hospital in Agartala for advanced treatment.
