In a sharp political attack, Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Ashish Kumar Saha on Wednesday alleged that the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund is being misused to benefit only members of the ruling party, calling it nothing but a BJP fund.

Addressing a press conference, Saha criticized the state government’s decision to provide financial assistance from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund exclusively to BJP workers who were reportedly affected by post-election violence following the ADC polls. He questioned the selective approach and termed it unethical and discriminatory.

Saha asserted that political violence in Tripura is not a new phenomenon and reminded that several Congress and CPI(M) workers had also been victims of political attacks during earlier periods. “Those who suffered in the past also deserve similar assistance from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund,” he stated.

Referring to the recent incidents involving alleged attacks by Tipra Motha supporters after the ADC election results, Saha said that while extending financial help to affected families is the duty of the government, such support must not be restricted to a particular political party.

“The Chief Minister’s Relief Fund belongs to everyone, ruling party members, opposition workers, and common citizens alike. It should not be used selectively,” he emphasized.

He further alleged that the fund is being improperly and unfairly utilized for political purposes and demanded that all victims of political violence, irrespective of party affiliation, be given equal financial assistance.

Condemning the government’s approach, Saha called for transparency and fairness in the disbursement of relief funds, urging authorities to ensure that no affected family is left out due to political bias.
