In the aftermath of the Tripura ADC election results, several BJP workers were reportedly attacked, allegedly by supporters of Tipra Motha Party, raising fresh concerns over political violence in the state.

Tripura Minister Tinku Roy strongly condemned the incidents and announced that strict legal action will be taken against those responsible. He stated that under the The Tripura Recovery of Damages to Public Property Act, 2021, compensation for damages caused during the violence will be recovered directly from the accused individuals and distributed among the affected victims.

On Sunday evening, senior BJP leaders, along with Chief Minister Manik Saha, visited the Bhagat Singh Yuva Abas, where families affected by political violence from various districts have taken shelter. The leaders interacted with the victims and assured them of security, support, and swift rehabilitation.

Following the meeting, Tinku Roy said that after the 2018 and 2023 Assembly elections, the government had avoided revenge politics and worked to maintain peace in the state. However, he expressed concern that a section of miscreants continues to resort to violence.

Reiterating the government’s firm stance, he said that the administration remains committed to the rule of law and that strict action will be taken against anyone violating it. He also assured that all necessary steps will be taken to ensure the safety and rehabilitation of affected families.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Manik Saha also condemned the incident in a social media post. Sharing a video clip, he alleged that a tribal woman, Subhagi Debbarma, was brutally assaulted and left injured by attackers linked to Tipra Motha. He described the incident as deeply distressing and questioned whether such acts align with the ideals of “Thansa.”

The Chief Minister further stated that intimidation, violence, and terror tactics cannot deter the BJP, emphasizing that the party remains committed to peace, democracy, and the rule of law, with public support as its greatest strength.

The incidents have once again highlighted the fragile political situation in Tripura, with growing calls for peace and accountability across the state.
