The newly elected members of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council are scheduled to take oath of office and secrecy on April 27, officials said on Monday. The oath will be administered by the Law Secretary in accordance with the directions of the Governor. The swearing-in ceremony will mark the formal constitution of the new district council following the recently concluded elections. The elections to the TTAADC were held earlier this month, with results declared on April 17. The Tipra Motha Party secured a decisive victory, winning 24 of the 28 seats.Officials indicated that the first meeting of the newly elected members will be held on the same day as the oath-taking ceremony. The council is expected to move swiftly towards government formation, with the appointment of the Chief Executive Member (CEM) and Executive Members (EMs) likely within a week.Sources within the Tipra Motha Party suggested that changes in leadership are under consideration. Retired IAS officer CK Jamatia, who recently entered electoral politics, is being seen as a frontrunner for the post of CEM. If appointed, he is expected to replace incumbent PC Jamatia. The CEM and EMs together function as the executive authority of the council, akin to a council of ministers at the state level.
