A massive wave of post-poll violence has been marring social peace and stability in the ADC areas as the miscreants under the banner of ‘Tipra Motha’ continue to run amok against workers , candidates and supporters of rival BJP in various parts of the ADC. “This is possibly the so-called ‘Thansa’ (?) in motion ! We are waiting to see how long this lasts, this exploitation of ethnic sentiment for victory and retribution in its wake” said a senior BJP tribal leader from Ram Chandraghat in Khowai subdivision. He said that shortly after the declaration of results of the Ram Chandraghat ADC constituency a large group of ‘Motha’ miscreants had stormed the residence of BJP candidate Devid Debbarma in Ratanpur and also the residence of BJP’s booth president of Ampura Dwipayan Debbarma. Dwipayan’s old parents were physically manhandled by the assailants operating under the banner of ‘Thansa’.

After being informed of what had happened yesterday and were happening today in Ram Chandraghat a BJP delegation comprising minister for social welfare Tinku Roy, party MLA from Kalyanpur Pinaki Daschowdhury and ‘Jana Jati Morcha’ general secretary Bipin Debbarma and other party leaders of Khowai visited the places of occurrences this morning. They met a large number of tribal party workers and supporters who had been driven away from home by the ‘Tipra Motha’ hooligans after the announcement of the poll verdict and had been forced to take shelter in BJP party office in Khowai town. Strongly condemning the violence unleashed by the ‘Tipra Motha’ miscreants minister Tinku Roy said that if this continues the government will be left with no other alternative but to take action . He appealed for peace and calm in the ADC areas.

Apart from this, the residential premise of BJP leader in Pushkarbari under Bisramganj, Suresh Debbarma was stormed and vandalized yesterday by the ‘Tipra Motha’ miscreants. Altogether seven petrol bombs were hurled at the residence of Suresh Debbarma and his entire house and shop were vandalized. Suresh and his family had to flee from home to save their lives. Besides, three BJP party offices were vandalized and destroyed by ‘Motha’ miscreants in Manu-Bankul assembly constituency in areas from Vishnupur to Chalita Bankul Battala market. Stating this the BJP MLA of Manu-Bankul Chalaifru Mog said that the situation was serious and strong police intervention was needed to control the situation.

In yet another incident the BJP booth president Sanjit Debbarma of Bathanbari area under Amtoli-Golaghati ADC constituency had to flee home with his wife Golapi Debbarma and four year old daughter Pira Debbarma after the local ‘Tipra Motha’ miscreants had set his house on fire to burn all of them alive. The small temple in his house as well as the kitchen had been gutted but the rest was saved by local people who had rushed to help . “This is possibly a practical demonstration of the concept of so-called ‘Thansa’ which is now recoiling on voters belonging to the same class or group ; the votaries of ‘Thansa’ should come and see what the genie unleashed by them are doing” said a dejected but angry Sanjit Debbarma. He added that the situation in many other parts of ADC areas is ‘very serious’ because of the depredations of ‘Tipra Motha’.
