Indiscipline growing in educational institutions , student and teacher beaten up in college and school

The acts of gross indiscipline in educational institutions in the state have been growing rapidly because of the negligence of the institutional heads and education department. As part of this students and teachers are being beaten up with impunity and no action is taken. It was only last month that a female teacher in the UK Academy English medium HS school was beaten up in front of all other teachers in the staff common room by a pro-ruling party retired teacher on extension . He was so brazen and bloated with a sense of power and immunity from administrative action that he openly slapped a lady teacher . All other teachers including the head of the institution kept quiet over the issue and the education department did not even inquire about the ,matter even though it was reported in the state’s media.

But the latest outrage took place in the BBM college yesterday as a student of 2nd semester Hiron Das was physically assaulted for some unknown reasons by leader of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) in the college Tanmay Ghosh and his accomplice Anik Roy. Sources said that Hrion had come to the college to submit his assignment but was set upon by the two miscreants . The incident triggered a furore with other students and guardians of Hirion demanding immediate arrest of Tanmay Ghosh and Anik Roy but the principal of the college Dr. Mihir Paul has not so far taken any action.

In yet another incident a miscreant contractual teacher Indrajit Bhowmik physically assaulted a regular teacher Sujit Das in the common room of Karbook English medium model school when an academic discussion was going on . Why Indrajit , known to be a leading figure of BJP in the area, launched the attack is not known. Even though the incident took place on March 16 the education department has not taken any action despite being informed of the matter. Sources said that Indrajit Bhowmik had been transferred to other school twice earlier but he had managed to have the transfer orders revoked by exercising his political influence . His depredations have created a situation of fear and panic among all other teachers in the school , but despite knowing everything the education department is silent.
