Counting of votes for the politically significant TTAADC elections will be conducted today across 28 counting halls at 17 locations in Tripura, with elaborate security arrangements put in place to ensure a smooth process.

The Tripura State Election Commission has enforced a three-tier security system around all counting centres. Strict access control, frisking at entry points, and restrictions on movement of vehicles within designated perimeters have been implemented to maintain order.

Officials stated that security forces have been deployed based on specific requirements assessed for each centre, with clear instructions regarding prohibited items inside counting halls.

The counting follows polling held on April 12, which recorded a turnout of 83.52 percent, subject to minor revision after re-polling. The election witnessed isolated incidents of violence and allegations of intimidation, particularly involving clashes between supporters of Bharatiya Janata Party, Tipra Motha, and Communist Party of India (Marxist).

A total of 173 candidates are in the fray, with the BJP and Tipra Motha seen as the contenders, while the Indian National Congress and Indigenous People's Front of Tripura are also contesting across multiple seats.

Authorities have also arranged for real-time updates of results alongside the conventional counting process, as political observers anticipate a closely fought contest.
