In a unique and people-oriented initiative marking the Bengali New Year (Poila Boishakh), Ramprasad Paul, BJP MLA of Suryamaninagar Assembly Constituency and Deputy Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly, has launched a massive outreach programme to distribute sweet packets and New Year greeting cards to households across the constituency, along with a strong message advocating a drug-free Suryamaninagar.
The Suryamaninagar Assembly Constituency (No. 018) in West Tripura has more than 54,000 registered voters, and this initiative aims to reach nearly every family in the constituency. From early morning, around 1,200 volunteers and party workers will deliver sweet packets and greetings letters directly to 20 thousands homes, ensuring that no household is left out of the festive celebrations.
What makes this programme particularly significant is its inclusive and non-partisan nature. The distribution drive will cover all residents irrespective of their political affiliations, including supporters of BJP, CPI(M), Congress, TIPRA Motha, and others. This reflects a conscious effort to celebrate the New Year as a festival of unity, rising above political differences.
In alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Vocal for Local” vision, all sweet packets have been procured from 20 number of local sweet shops within Suryamaninagar. This initiative not only ensures freshness but also provides a timely boost to local businesses and small traders during the festive period.
Speaking to media persons, Ramprasad Paul emphasized that his relationship with the people of Suryamaninagar goes beyond politics and is rooted in trust and emotional connection. He stated that people from all communities, religions, and political backgrounds have always supported him, and he respects everyone equally.
Alongside festive greetings, he has also highlighted the importance of building a drug-free society. He noted that significant progress has already been made in reducing drug-related issues in the constituency with the collective efforts of residents from all sections. Through this New Year initiative, he has once again appealed to the people to continue supporting his 'drugs free Suryamaninagar mission' and work together for a healthier and safer Suryamaninagar.
The initiative has received a warm response from local residents, who see it as a thoughtful gesture combining cultural celebration with social responsibility. As Tripura welcomes the Bengali New Year, this large-scale sweets and greeting distribution drive stands out as a symbol of goodwill, inclusiveness, and a shared commitment to a drug-free and harmonious society.
