The conduct of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections has come under scrutiny following allegations of irregularities and obstruction raised by the CPI(M) and the Tripura Left Front Committee.

In an official statement, the CPI(M) Tripura State Committee claimed that although the elections were largely conducted in a peaceful and orderly manner across the state, several disturbances were reported in parts of West Tripura, Sepahijala, and Gomati districts. According to the party, incidents of intimidation, obstruction of polling agents, and alleged manipulation of votes were reported in certain locations.

The statement further alleged that in some polling booths, polling agents of Left Front candidates were forcibly prevented from entering or were removed from the booths. There were also claims of voter intimidation and fear being created among the electorate in specific areas. CPI(M) accused the Tipra Motha Party and the BJP of creating barriers that disrupted the normal voting process in some booths.

Additionally, the party alleged that in a few instances, rigging activities took place. CPI(M) also claimed that some BJP legislators were directly present at locations where such incidents occurred.

Despite these allegations, the party acknowledged the courage and determination of voters, especially in tribal areas, who turned out to cast their votes despite challenges. The CPI(M) praised voters for defending democratic rights through active participation in the electoral process.

Meanwhile, the Tripura Left Front Committee, in a separate statement, echoed similar concerns. The committee alleged that the elections were not conducted in a completely free and fair environment due to incidents of violence, obstruction, and intimidation at several polling centers.

The Left Front claimed that polling agents of opposition candidates faced obstacles in entering polling stations and, in some cases, were forcibly removed. It also alleged that voters were subjected to fear and pressure, and in certain places, proxy voting incidents were reported.

The statement criticized the role of the State Election Commission and the administration, alleging that there were shortcomings in ensuring a completely peaceful and impartial election process.

However, the Left Front also commended the voters of Tripura for their resilience and participation. It noted that despite the alleged challenges, people exercised their democratic rights by coming out to vote.
