Serious allegations of violence and electoral malpractice have emerged from Dayalpara under the 19 Amtali Golaghati polling center in Boxanagar constituency during the ADC elections. The area reportedly witnessed armed intimidation, with miscreants brandishing pistols and hurling six consecutive bombs, creating panic among voters.
According to allegations raised by the Tipra Motha, the incident took place under the leadership of BJP MLA Tafajjal Hossain, who was allegedly present at the spot. The party claimed that the MLA arrived to influence and rig the polling process, during which the bombing and firing incidents occurred.
The situation escalated as supporters of Tipra Motha reportedly organized a counter-response, forcing the alleged attackers to retreat from the area. Tension spread across Veluarchar Dayalpara following the clashes.
District Superintendent of Police Bijoy Debbarma reached the spot soon after and took stock of the situation. Speaking to journalists, he stated that the situation is now under control. A large police force has since been deployed in the area to maintain law and order.
In the violence, one Tipra Motha supporter identified as Abiram Debbarma sustained injuries and was admitted to Bishramganj Hospital for treatment.
Further allegations claim that several local youths had their mobile phones snatched by associates of the MLA for recording videos of the incident, raising concerns over attempts to suppress visual evidence.
