Police personnel including SP (Sepahijala) injured as ‘Tipra Motha’ miscreants attack BJP candidate’s house in Takarjala

Increasingly emboldened by lack of drastic action against their misdeeds, a large group of ‘Tipra Motha’ miscreants this afternoon tried to storm of the house of BJP candidate of Takarjala ADC constituency and ‘Mandal’ president Nirmal Debbarma in Lampakrai Khami area under the police station but were thwarted by policemen who had rushed from Bisramganj. In the ‘Tipra Motha’ attack at least fifteen police personnel including the SP (Sepahijala) Bijay Debbarma sustained varying degrees of injuries.

Police sources said that a group of ‘Tipra Motha’ supporters had been indulging in abuses against the BJP and its candidate Nirmal Debbarma in the name of campaigning in the Lampakrai Kami area. The BJP supporters present in the area initially asked the unruly ‘Motha’ miscreants to campaign in a gentle way but this sparked heated exchange of words without any rhyme or reason and the ‘Tipra Motha’ supporters launched organised assault on the BJP workers and supporters who had to flee the area . It then their turn to try to storm the residence of BJP candidate for Takarjala ADC constituency Nirmal Debbarma. By that time the information about the depredations of the rampaging ‘Tipra Motha’ goons had reached the Takarjala police station as well as Bisramganj area and police reinforcement led by SP (Sepahijala) Bijay Debbarma arrived on the spot . They tried to gently tackle the situation by reasoning with the ‘Tipra Motha’ miscreants but they turned ballistic and attacked the police party. In the ensuing clash the police managed to disperse the unruly ‘Tipra Motha’ supporters but fifteen of them including the SP , Bijay Debbarma sustained varying degrees of injuries in stone pelting and other forms of assaults. All of them had to undergo treatment in Bisramganj hospital. The situation is now tense but under control, said police sources.
