In a significant administrative move ahead of the upcoming ADC elections in Tripura, the state government has ordered a reshuffle in the police department, including the transfer of Khowai district’s Superintendent of Police and several OCs.

As per a notification issued by the General Administration (Personnel & Training) Department, Ranaditya Das, TPS Gr-I, who was serving as the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Khowai district, has been transferred and posted as AIGP (Headquarters), Tripura with immediate effect.

In his place, Bogati Jagadeeswar Reddy, IPS, who was serving as AIGP (HQ), has been posted as the new Superintendent of Police, Khowai district.

The order further mentions that the transfers have been made in the interest of public service and with the concurrence of the State Election Commission, indicating the importance of maintaining law and order during the election period.

Police Station-Level Reshuffle

In a parallel order issued by Police Headquarters, several Inspectors and Sub-Inspectors have also been transferred:

Dilip Debbarma, OC of Champahour Police Station, has been transferred to the office of the SP, Khowai.

Bimal Baidya, OC of Chellagang Police Station, has been transferred to the office of the Commandant, CTI.

Babul Das has been posted as the new OC of Chellagang Police Station.

Ajit Debbarma, SI, has been posted as OC of Champahour Police Station.

In another order, Debasish Saha has been posted as OC of Silachari Police Station, while Sanesh Debbarma, who was serving as OC of Mungiakami Police Station, has been transferred to the office of the SP, Khowai. Shakti Sadhan Jamatia, OC of Ompi Police Station, has been shifted to the office of the SP, Gomati, and Rajib Debnath has been posted as the new OC of Ompi Police Station. Raju Baidya, Sub-Inspector, has been given charge as OC of Mungiakami Police Station.

This reshuffle comes at a crucial time, just ahead of the ADC elections in Tripura. Notably, earlier too, three police station OCs were transferred following allegations of negligence in discharging election-related security responsibilities.

The latest round of transfers is being viewed as a proactive step by the administration to ensure stricter law enforcement, neutrality, and efficient security management during the electoral process.

With the State Election Commission closely monitoring the situation, the government appears keen on reinforcing accountability within the police force. The reshuffle signals a zero-tolerance approach toward any lapse in maintaining law and order during elections.
