Bishramganj in Sepahijala district witnessed heightened tension on Thursday ahead of a scheduled public rally by Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha. Supporters of Tipra Motha took out a protest march raising ' CM Go Back' slogans just before the Chief Minister’s arrival, creating a charged political atmosphere in the area.

Although police intervened and stopped the procession, forcing the protesters to retreat, a serious question has emerged over the security arrangements. How were Tipra Motha supporters allowed to reach so close to the venue of the Chief Minister’s rally? The incident, which reportedly took place in the presence of Sepahijala Superintendent of Police Bijoy Debbarma, IPS has triggered concerns among local residents and political observers.

The episode has also raised a broader concern about whether democratic norms are being undermined. BJP supporters in the area expressed strong resentment, alleging that a provocative march was allowed to pass near the Chief Minister’s rally, further escalating tensions. Many locals questioned the role of the police in permitting such proximity during a high-security event, calling it an administrative lapse.

Amid this backdrop, public reaction has been intense, with both BJP supporters and common citizens terming the attempt to disrupt the Chief Minister’s campaign as undemocratic. The incident has further sharpened political divisions in the run-up to the ADC elections.

Addressing a public meeting at Kalachara Motor Stand in support of BJP candidate Abhijit Tripura from the 27 East Muhuripur-Bhuratali constituency, the Chief Minister launched a sharp attack on Tipra Motha. He said that the people are happy with the Bharatiya Janata Party’s decision to contest all 28 seats independently in the ADC elections and claimed that this sentiment is reflected across ADC areas. He alleged that the people have rejected what he described as the blackmail politics of Tipra Motha.

In a pointed remark, the Chief Minister said that those who believe they do not care about him are now being ignored by the people themselves, adding that the days of misrule in the ADC are coming to an end. He called upon voters to ensure a massive victory for the BJP in the April 12 ADC elections to build a Developed ADC, expressing confidence that the electorate will create history through their mandate.

In another rally at Killa-Bagma constituency in support of BJP candidate Amar Jamatia, the Chief Minister accused the Tipra Motha-led ADC administration of corruption over the past five years. He referred to alleged irregularities in the construction of smoke houses, claiming that funds provided for development were misused. He urged voters to remove the corrupt ADC government and establish good governance.

Issuing a stern warning, the Chief Minister said that any attempt to obstruct voting or campaigning should be reported directly, assuring strict action against those responsible.

The developments in Bishramganj underline the intensifying political contest ahead of the ADC elections while simultaneously raising critical questions about security management, administrative accountability, and the state of democratic practices in sensitive electoral situations.
