Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Thursday alleged that markets are being deliberately shut down during his visits, claiming political interference aimed at disrupting his public outreach.Speaking at a massive election rally in Asharambari under Khowai district, the Chief Minister said, “Wherever I go, markets are being closed.” Notably, the local market remained shut on the day of his public meeting, raising concerns over the political atmosphere in the region.BJP Pushes for Power in ADC Addressing the gathering, Dr. Saha asserted that people have already made up their minds regarding the future of the Autonomous District Council (ADC). He stated that only the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) can ensure development in the ADC areas, adding that parties which previously held power have lost public trust due to alleged corruption. Without naming individuals directly, he took a sharp dig at opposition leaders, saying that some are now resorting to mimicry on stage to attract crowds after failing to deliver during their tenure. The Chief Minister launched a strong political attack on Tipra Motha, describing the party as communal, frustrated, and violent.

He urged people to resolve to remove such forces and support BJP candidate Ananta Debbarma from the Asharambari–Halahali constituency. The rally witnessed a large turnout, signaling intensified campaigning ahead of the ADC elections.

BJP Worker Injured, Admitted to GB Hospital In a separate incident, political tensions escalated further as a BJP worker, identified as Bithesh Jamatia, was allegedly attacked by supporters of Tipra Motha. The injured worker is currently undergoing treatment at Govind Ballabh Pant Hospital (GB Hospital) in Agartala. Following the incident, BJP leader Tapan Bhattacharjee, President of the 6-Agartala Mandal, rushed to the hospital to inquire about the injured worker’s condition and ensure proper medical care. The back-to-back allegations of disruption and violence have intensified the political atmosphere in Tripura, especially in ADC areas. With elections approaching, both rhetoric and clashes appear to be escalating, raising concerns over law and order as well as the fairness of the democratic process.
